A Utah adventure

Earlier this year, I traveled to Africa on safari and witnessed the “Big Five,” a term coined by big-game hunters to describe the five most dangerous and difficult animals to hunt on foot: the lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant and Cape buffalo. This spring, my wife Laurie and I, joined by her sister Jeanne and husband Eric, ventured out west to witness Utah’s “Mighty Five.”

The Mighty Five does not refer to wildlife, but natural wonders, aka, national parks: Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef and Zion. We also visited a few state parks: Snow Canyon near St. George, Goblin Valley near Hanksville, and Deadhorse Point near Moab.

Our trip, nearly one year in the making, began with a flight to Las Vegas, where we rented a van and drove north on Interstate 15. Overnight stays included stops in Panguich, Torrey, Moab and Cedar City. Altogether, we put about 1,500 miles on our rented Chrysler Pacifica. It was a trip that could be considered a “bucket list” adventure. Below is a slideshow of photos from Utah. If visiting Utah’s natural wonders is on your bucket list and you’d like more information, drop me an email and I can share more details.
