A birder’s paradise

Africa is one of the top bird photography destinations in the world. “Of the 600 or so birds found in the whole of Botswana, around 75% of them are to be seen and photographed in the Chobe National Park throughout the year,” according to a booklet, Botswana Bird Guide, which Pangolin Photo Safaris provides to guests.

From November to April, the number of bird species grows, as migratory birds arrive and take up residence in the warmer climates. From Fish Eagles and Malachite Kingfishers to Carmine Bee Eaters and African Skimmers, Africa is a birder’s paradise. The slideshow below offers just a glimpse of some of the birds we witnessed and photographed in South Africa and Botswana in February.
