From Crocs to Zebras
One of the exciting parts of visiting Chobe National Park in Botswana is taking boat rides on the Chobe River to see wildlife from a different perspective. Pangolin Photo Safaris, based near the Chobe River in Kasane, specializes in guided boat safaris. Below is a short video from Pangolin’s YouTube channel that describes their boats used on photographic safaris.
The boat safaris give photographers a close-up view of wildlife such as hippos and crocodiles. In this post I have included below four slideshows. The first one features the two animals mentioned above. Because hippos kill some 500 people each year, they are considered the deadliest land mammal in Africa. Boat guides are keenly aware of a hippo’s behavior and know when not to get too close. Crocodiles are also plentiful along the Chobe River. They take naps along the grassy shores and can be photographed at a close distance.
